There’s nothing like the feeling of people connecting over things of substance. And when that substance is rooted in the dynamic history of Jazz, everyone walks away in a way that’s transforming. And as such, when we as a band—and The 1905 as an establishment—can see through your weekly patronage the effects of our contribution to this type of culture building, it helps to reinforce all of the reasons why we continue to do the work that we do.
And speaking of culture building, we’ll be featuring as a special guest Yoav Eshed on guitar. As an Israeli born, but now Brooklyn, NY based musician, he has been the recipient of numerous awards and well-deserved recognition over the years for his work. He has annually received the America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarships for Jazz since 2008. He has also received scholarships from the ‘NY New School for Jazz’ and has won the ‘Prestigious Dean Award’ from Berklee for outstanding musicianship. He is also the winner of the Lee Ritenour jazz competition ‘Six String Theory’; the winner of the annual jazz competition in Israel called ‘The Jazz Player’; winner of the Montreux Jazz Festival Guitar Competition in Switzerland,; and he has won the Best Solo Instrumental prize of ‘Made in New York’ jazz international competition.
