Brown has gained a stellar reputation as one of the bright new talents on the scene, working with a who's who of Jazz artist.

This quartet is so amazing on so many different levels...go see 'em whilst they still exist in PDX. I really think this one could go a long way in the Jazz world!

He is a uniquely talented performer and educator, and a man in whom I trust and for whom I hold great admiration.

I used him almost exclusively in my band when he used to reside in the NYC area, as he always brought so much knowledge and artistry to the music. And combined with his multi-instrumentalist abilities, Chris Brown is a unique talent that's not often found.

The Ron Steen Jazz Jam Session (feat. Christopher Brown)

  • The 1905 830 North Shaver Street Portland, OR, 97227 United States (map)

To know the Portland Jazz scene is to know the name Ron Steen. He has been the #1 most instrumental musician here in Portland over the past several decades to have cultivated the necessary spaces for young musicians to plant themselves into so that they can grow to become the next generation of torch bearers to maintain the flam of the music we call Jazz. And I’m always honored to step into his shoes when he asks me to take the reigns of one of his sessions. And in this instance it happens to be at the hottest spot in town to see live Jazz music on a weekly basis [The 1905]. So whether you’re a musician or not, I encourage you to come through to participate in this time honored cultural tradition that we call the Jazz Jam Session.
